چکیده

Constraint Handling Rules (CHR) is a high-level rule-based programming language. In [11], a model of computation based on the operational semantics of CHR is introduced, called the CHR machine. The CHR machine was used to prove a complexity-wise completeness result for the CHR language and its implementations. In this paper, we investigate three generalizations of CHR machines: CHR machines with an instantiated operational semantics, non-deterministic CHR machines, and self-modifying CHR machines.

Turing-Complete Subclasses of CHR

Interesting subclasses of CHR are still Turing-complete: CHR with only one kind of rule, with only one rule, and propositional refined CHR. This is shown by programming a simulator of Turing machines (or Minsky machines) within those subclasses. Single-headed CHR without host language and propositional abstract CHR are not Turing-complete.

MTSeq: Multi-touch-enabled CHR-based Music Generation and Manipulation

We present MTSeq, an application that combines GUI-driven multi-touch input technology with the CHR-based music generation system APOPCALEAPS and an advanced audio engine. This combination leads to an extended user experience and an intuitive, playful access to the CHR music generation system, and thus introduces CHR to musicians and other non-computer-scientists in an appropriate way. The appl...

Strong Joinability Analysis for Graph Transformation Systems in CHR

The notion of confluence is prevalent in graph transformation systems (GTS) as well as constraint handling rules (CHR). This work presents a generalized embedding of GTS in CHR that allows to consider strong derivations in confluence analyses. Confluence of a terminating CHR program is decidable, but confluence of a terminating GTS is undecidable. We show that observable confluence in CHR is a ...

CHR Exhaustive Execution - Revisited

Constraint Handling Rules (CHR) apply guarded rules to rewrite constraints in a constraint store, until a final state is reached in which no more rules are applicable. The rules cannot be retracted, therefore CHR does not backtrack over alternatives. In this paper, a novel source-to-source transformation is proposed, which transforms any given CHR program to one that backtracks over all possibl...

Decidability properties for fragments of CHR

We study the decidability of termination for two CHR dialects which, similarly to the Datalog like languages, are defined by using a signature which does not allow function symbols (of arity > 0). Both languages allow the use of the = built-in in the body of rules, thus are built on a host language that supports unification. However each imposes one further restriction. The first CHR dialect al...
